The Panari Solar Ice Rink stands out as the sole facility of its kind across East and Central Africa. It offers an expansive 15,000 square feet of ice for skating. This fully enclosed rink maintains the ice at a chilly -25°C, while the ambient temperature within the hall is kept at a more comfortable 12°C.

Skating at the Solar Ice Rink

The rink can host 200 skaters simultaneously. However, some guidelines must be adhered to for a proper skating experience. Please note that all children under nine years must be accompanied by an adult.

  • Discarding objects, including cigarette butts, onto the ice surface is not allowed.
  • Sitting on the edges of the rink is prohibited.
  • Eating or drinking within the ice rink area is not allowed.
  • Smoking within the ice arena is strictly forbidden.
  • Protective gloves are recommended for children under 9 years for their safety.
  • Skaters must wear skating boots to enter the ice rink area.
  • Damaging the ice surface in any form is strictly prohibited.
  • Skating on the ice rink comes with inherent risks and is done at the skater’s own responsibility.
  • It is required that all skaters move in a uniform direction – counter-clockwise

Ice Skating Lessons

The cost for a basic lesson at the ice rink is set at 18,000 Kenyan Shillings (Ksh) for both children and adults. This fee covers a total of 8 sessions, ensuring that skaters of all ages receive comprehensive instruction and ample time on the ice to practice and refine their skills.

Ice Hockey

This course focuses on helping participants find their balance on the ice. Tailored to be engaging and enjoyable, this introductory level is aimed at teaching the essential skills of skating and handling the puck, laying the groundwork for a fulfilling hockey experience.

Time

Open daily from 11 am to 10 pm but there are breaks in between that is from noon to 1 pm and from 4 pm to 5 pm. The ice rink can only be blocked or closed out for private parties or functions with prior confirmation.
